Why is Green Construction Important?
Due to the rigorous demands on our earth, it is more important than ever to reduce our negative impact on our environment. With “Green” building, this can be done by using practices of sustainable design, energy efficiency, using recycled materials and waste reduction. Green building can also can be the foundation of a healthy lifestyle for those living in LEED homes with a non-toxic indoor air quality.
Above Code Design and Construction
All of our projects will be: inspected, performance verified, will be or have been awarded the Northwest Energy Star and LEED Silver certifications. Meeting these higher performance standards is not required, but we choose to provide environmental and energy conscious design and construction standards as our minimum practice
Mountain Sun Design and Mountain Sun Builders work together to provide homes that are:
-
Designed and constructed in a manner that provides positive environmental benefits, and minimizes energy consumption. This combined effort assures that the end product will be efficiently built and will meet the budget of the customer.
A Green Community and Land Planning

Benefits of Energy Star &
LEED Standards
Homes that meet Energy Star and LEED standards benefit by:
Energy performance 15% or better than current building codes with regards to energy performance.
Occupant’s health is also vastly improved due to cleaner indoor air quality standards; this is achieved through the use of healthy paints, stains, adhesive, flooring, and air filtration.
Third party “Green Raters” inspect and conduct verification testing during the entire construction process. These practices mandate accountability for all portions of the construction; this assures that the homeowner will be receiving a product that meets these stringent higher standards, will perform as designed, and will last for multiple generations. |
